Hologram's network is composed of over 550 networks worldwide which provides a great amount of network redundancy. This in turn ensures that if one network is having issues there are other networks that can be used as back up. In this guide we explore how to get a device to switch networks via AT command.
If a device is able to connect to another network and pass data, then that indicates that the network/carrier side is healthy. If you have not successful passed data on the network then please see our guide to get connected.
Once you have connected if you observe the device not transition gracefully to other carriers, it is likely that the modem is not configured correctly or there may be an issue with the plan/FPLMN details.
Steps to try if you have AT command access:
- Run AT+COPS=? and verify that your device has successfully scanned for the new tower.
- When connected to your current tower check the signal strength using AT+CSQ? . If you have healthy signal strength (RSSI > 85dBm for instance) it could indicate that this is the strongest signal available.
- Manually try to connect to a tower that is in range and see if your device can register.
Note, these commands were tested on U-Blox modules, but should generally work for all modems; if not then there should be analogous commands available.
